Alone is a part of togetherness

September 24, 2012

Here’s a great idea…                                                                                                                           In his book, Seven Principles for Making Your Marriage Work, John Gottman says,

“Marriage is something of a dance. There are times when you feel drawn to your loved one and times when you feel the need to pull back and replenish your sense of autonomy.” (p. 92)

In other words…

Couples need both together time and alone time. We should have many shared activities. Yet, in order to be healthy, we also need to work personal renewal time into our daily routines.

Here’s how you can use this idea to have a better life…                                                          When making your schedule out this week, make sure to include both special time together with your spouse as well as time for yourself.
