The satisfaction of work

Here’s a great idea…

In his book, The Pursuit of Happiness, David G. Myers says, “It’s better to have work than be idle…[We know that] work satisfaction impacts life satisfaction.” (p. 129)

In other words…

Have you ever reflected upon the accomplishment of a difficult task and said to yourself, “Well done!”  That is exactly how we feel when we dig into a job and stick with it until it’s complete. As a wise man has observed: “Work builds and refines our character, creates beauty, and is the instrument of our service to one another.” Completing difficult tasks enables us to have a greater sense of well-being and personal worth.

Here’s how you can use this idea to have a better life…

Look at your goals. What tasks need to be completed to advance one of these goals? Consider what satisfaction you will have as you complete those tasks. Dive in!
