Not set in stone

March 16, 2012

Here’s a great idea…
In their book, What Happy People Know, Dan Baker and Cameron Stauth say, “You can change the way you perceive things. Nothing is set in stone—not even the way you’re perceiving the world around you at this moment. In every moment of life and every instance of perception, there is a point of opportunity to choose how you perceive the world.” (p. 133)

In other words…
The things in our lives that we choose to focus on determine our overall mood and attitude. We can allow ourselves to be overwhelmed with the negative in our lives, but this will likely leave us feeling defeated, hurt, or angry. Or we can choose to find the positive in our lives and focus on it instead. This can help us feel more happiness and hope.

Here’s how you can use this idea to have a better life…
This week, choose to focus on the good things in your life. They can be anything from a walk outside to a talk with a friend. Maybe you can even find blessings that can come out of the challenges you are facing.
