The key to happiness and productivity

May 9, 2011

A Great Idea…

“I do not believe that you should devote overly much effort to correcting your weaknesses. Rather, I believe that the highest success in living and the deepest emotional satisfaction comes from building and using your signature strengths.” (Psychologist Martin E. P. Seligman in his book, Authentic Happiness, p. 13)

In Other Words…

Many of us assume that the key to happiness and growth is overcoming our weaknesses. Research suggests otherwise. Genuine happiness comes from using our strengths. For that to happen, we need to know our strengths and then design our lives to use them.

How This Applies to You…

Learn what YOUR personal strengths are by taking the free VIA Survey of Character Strengths at This 240-item survey will help you determine which of the 24 identified human strengths are most characteristic of you.

Once you have identified your personal strengths, look for ways to use them. You may even redesign your career, hobbies, and life to better use your strengths. Let the happiness begin!
