What the Experts Say …
“Quality time has nothing to do with what you and your child are doing when you are together. Quality time is all about how you do it  … It’s time when you are really engaged with your child.” (Psychologist Laurence Steinberg, in his book The 10 Basic Principles of Good Parenting)

In Other Words …

Spending time with your child isn’t about what we do, but how we do it. To spend quality time with our children we have to completely focus on our children, instead of thinking about other things that need to be done at work or around the house. When children know that they have our undivided attention, they feel more valued and enjoy the time more.

How This Applies to You …

Take time to really focus on your child and the activities you are doing together. When you turn off the television and computer, you can give your child complete attention. This will help build your relationship with your child and bring you closer together.
